Giant Traveling Map of New Hampshire Visits Mast Way

This week, all 4th grade students enjoyed investigating a Giant Traveling New Hampshire Floor Map (16 feet x 20 feet) which was borrowed from the New Hampshire Historical Society.

Throughout their 4th grade year, students learn about New Hampshire’s geography, government, indigenous people and early colonial life. By using the giant map, students got hands-on and feet-on experience in spatial thinking and awareness. They used grid systems to find absolute location, map scales to calculate distance, and learned to recognize the headwaters and mouths of many rivers in New Hampshire.
