Dear Oyster River Families,
ParentSquare notified us that starting today, December 12, users will see changes in how they receive their notifications.
If you have both app and text notifications turned on in your notification settings, you will receive post notifications through the app first, with text notifications sent only as a backup when the in-app communication cannot be delivered.
This change, which ParentSquare calls Smart Delivery, applies only to those who are subscribed to both app and text notifications.
With this update:
- App-first delivery, with text as fallback: When a post is shared, you'll receive a notification through the app first, with a backup text notification only if needed. This applies to posts, post digests, and updates to posts.
- No change for Alerts and Direct Messages: Time-sensitive messages sent via Alerts (such as inclement weather communications) and Direct Messages (available for ORHS Athletics only) will continue to be delivered via your preferred methods, including text message.
Families and staff should receive a brief text message from ParentSquare explaining the change, and a short message the first time they open the ParentSquare app, introducing the new Smart Notification delivery.
If you have installed the application and prefer receiving text messages, you may update your account's notifications settings by disabling in-app notifications. Instructions to do so are available here.
If you need assistance updating your notification preferences, please contact Director of Communications Genevieve Brown at 603-590-0052 or email.
