On Friday, May 16, 2025, Oyster River Middle School (ORMS) students and staff of all grade levels took part in the school’s 10th edition of Service Palooza.

Service Palooza is an annual ORMS tradition and an opportunity for students and staff to give back to the community.

Students and staff kicked the day off by gathering in the Morse Recital Hall for a keynote presentation by Superintendent Shaps on the topic of public service. Everyone was then invited to meet on the athletic field in front of the school to take the customary annual aerial drone photo.

Following the group photo, educators took their respective students to their community service activities. Some visited the Lee Fire Department to wash fire trucks and ambulances, while others washed Durham Police Department vehicles.

Groups of students visited the district’s elementary schools to read to younger grade level students, and some assisted community organizations with trash pickup and landscaping needs.
