Superintendent Dr. Robert Shaps and Principal Bill Sullivan are proud to announce that three Oyster River Middle School (ORMS) robotics teams have been invited to compete in the 2026 Robotics World Championship.
Congratulations to all participants and the following ORMS teams who qualified.
- Teams 2028A “Kinetic Kaos”: Callan Haley (8h grade), Rynn Haley (7th grade), Westin Roberge (8th grade), and William Weagle (8th grade).
- 2028D “Robodawgz”: Parker Ahn (8th grade), Peter Bogle (8th grade), Nolan Grobecker (8th grade), and Owen Pierce (8th grade).
- 2028J “Five Guy”: Matthias Earle (6th grade), Colin Keyes (6th grade), Beau Kimball (6th grade), Joseph Liu (6th grade), and Alexander Weagle (6th grade).
The 2026 VEX IQ World Championships will take place April 28–30 at the America’s Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, Missouri.
Teams 2028A, 2028D, and 2028J earned their invitations following exceptional performances at the NH/VT VEX IQ Challenge State Championship hosted by Manchester Community College on Feb. 15, where ORMS teams collected 9 of the 12 awards presented.
The following ORMS teams received top awards at the state level:
- Excellence Award: 2820A Kinetic Kaos
- Teamwork Champion Awards: 2820A Kinetic Kaos and 2820D Robodawgz
- Robot Skills Champion: 2820A Kinetic Kaos
- Innovate Award: 2820C Stackbot
- Amaze Award: 2820D Robodawgz
- Build Award: 2820F The Dumpster Divers
- Create Award: 2820J The Five Guys
- Sportsmanship Award: 2820X SpaghettiOs
In addition, 2820J placed second in Robot Skills and 2820B placed second in the Teamwork Challenge, contributing to one of ORMS’s strongest statewide performances to date.
“Each of these teams has demonstrated what is possible when students are curious, collaborative, and determined,” said Principal Sullivan. “Their success reflects countless hours of teamwork and thoughtful engineering, and we could not be prouder of the students and our coaches Jay Derick, Jason Duff, and Jade Terrill for representing ORMS at the highest levels of competition.”
All four students in Team 2028A “Kinetic Chaos” will be participating in their second Robotics World Championship. In 2025, ORMS sent two teams to Worlds and Team 2028A, then Team 2028J, earned 44th place in their division.
This year's cohort includes of two pairs of siblings: Callan and Rynn Haley, and Alexander and William Weagle.
“We celebrate the achievement of all the students who took part in the state championship and those who qualified for the 2026 Robotics World Championship,” said Superintendent Shaps. “We are incredibly grateful to our dedicated coaches, educators, and families who support this program. Watching students apply creativity and innovation in a real-world setting on a statewide and global stage is inspiring.”
