When Mr. Cangello’s Social Studies classes left school for a field trip to the Wright Museum of World War II in Wolfeboro in October 2024, they were looking forward to enhancing their understanding of an in-class unit exploring U.S. History and the Cold War in the 1960s. The museum staff were filming a video that day and were pleased to include their vibrant energy in the production.

Prior to the visit, students learned about WWII with a focus on the efforts from those who fought, as well as those on the Homefront supplying the effort. These lessons led to an exploration of the Cold War and its varied impacts both at home and abroad for almost four decades.

By visiting the museum, students got to witness the military aspect of the time period. Perusing the multiple exhibits also offered them a sense of what life was like back then.

“It was such a great trip, and the students were awesome.”, said Mr. Cangello. “The museum volunteers complimented the students to me at least a dozen times regarding how polite and inquisitive they were.  One comment that stood out was, ‘I don't think I have ever heard thank you so many times for such little things even from teenagers.’ “

The students featured in the video are Brendan Banafato, Avery Baumgardt, Ethan Boysen, Lucas Guyotte, Owen Mazza, Elias Pratt, Lila Neild, Sadie Neild, and Lily Tomaselli.
