On Friday, October 24, Oyster River High School (ORHS) students and staff gathered on the Todd Allen Field for a festive pep rally to conclude the school’s Spirit Week. The event featured lively activities such as musical chair, limbo, dizzy bat relay, and a fireman relay with students wearing the Town of Durham’s Fire Department fireproof suits.
Faculty and staff took part in an inflatable costume race. Students were awarded the NHIAA Chick-Fil-A Fan Section of the Week, and received coupons for free nuggets and sandwiches.
To celebrate, students dressed to match the school calendar’s White and Blue days, with 9th and 11th grade dressed in white and 10th and 12th in blue.
“All week long, freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors competed for who had the most spirit,” said Principal Rebecca Noe. “And this year was one of the most positive pep rallies we have had in years.”
Earlier in the week, on Monday, students also dressed in different colors.
On Tuesday, they brought to school “Anything but a backpack” with some students showcasing ingenious ideas, like using a bellman luggage cart, strollers, industrial coolers, slow cookers, a sink, and even a Shop-Vac.
On Wednesday, each grade level was dressed to honor a different decade, from the 70’s to the 00’s, and on Thursday, they dressed to celebrate the “BBQ Dad vs. Soccer Mom” theme.

ORHS staff raced to the finish line as colleagues and students cheered on.
